Meanwhile, I took Beetlejuice, Sam and Dean to the NLCC, where we had a great time. The big winner was definitely Beetle, but Dean did get second place in veterans one of the days for another point.
Evie came in season right before the NLCC, and Sarah ended up taking her to the Perry shows for me, where she was awarded BOW two days for her last two points to finish her championship! She's a Dual Champion at long last!

Evie showed for the first time in a year aside from Beezer Bash, and she was WB Saturday and WB/BOW Sunday for two more points.
We had a long week of camping in TN, starting with Beezer Bash on Tuesday, followed by the four days of Winter Challenge. It was overall a great weekend. Sam was Winner's Dog & Best Puppy at the Beezer Bash Specialty for his first major. In the ASFA trial, Evie was fourth place in Field Champions and Niko was second in Veterans. At Winter Challenge, Fleura was BOB every day, but ultimately pulled up a little lame for Best in Event. Overall, it was a great week and a blast to hang out with everyone.
Fleura ended the year #1 in LGRA, #4 in ASFA (after four trials), and #2 in AKC lure coursing! We had an impromptu playdate with local friends over at Katie's house, and we ended up with 17 Ibizans, 1 Afghan, 1 Pharaoh and 2 mutts all playing in the yard happily together. It was a lot of fun, with great company and happy dogs, and the added bonus was new stacked photos of Ponzi and Junior from the Art Litter in time for their 6 month half-birthday. Additionally, everyone got to meet the new addition at Acires, Sam, who is currently staying with Kayla & Ponzi. He's a sweetheart boy who will be a wonderful addition to the family.
In attendance at the party: Beezers:
After a long and very difficult birth, Evie welcomed three girls and two boys into the world. Co-bred with Kamar Ibizans, I'm so excited to see this litter grow. We chose "Pixar" as the baby name theme. Now begins the wait to determine if Fly and/or Picasso is the father!
We lucked out with amazing weather this year for Memorial Day weekend, and it was unseasonably cool and breezy. I was unable to attend the first day of the trial due to a family event, but we made the most of our one day. The Beezers had an absolute blast, with all three of mine catching the lure during one of their runs and having a good time with it. Aiden made absolute field confetti of it and Evie came happily recalling back with a bag over her head and around her neck, so it was sailing behind her like a cape. She was very pleased with herself. She put in some strong runs today and won FCh, earning her first LCM points, but couldn't quite pull through in BOB. She had some great corners, but Ayla had her on speed. They had to restart after Evie grabbed the lure and ran around in her special bunny cape, and she just got too wild. Dean was second also for some points and Aiden tied for 4/NBQ, but sadly lost the coin flip.
Fleura ran great and was her usual hardcore self, but the thing that I was most proud of was that she was so unphased by an incident that occurred on the field that could have ruined some dogs. She recovered immediately and just kept running, with no change in her positive attitude. I really admire those aspects of her temperament so much. She ultimately ended up with Best in Field, running with the Ibizan, Whippet, Pharaoh and Basenji, and there were some really great runs from the Ibizan and Whippet especially. I'm very proud of her! We had a wonderful time in Limestone, TN, as usual. We all coordinated on entries and ended up with 22 entries in regular competition one of the days. Counting Singles, we had more Ibizans than there were Whippets! Everyone was enjoying themselves, and lending a hand as needed. We really have a wonderful group of local people and dogs. Overall, my dogs did well, but I could definitely tell that three days was probably too much for them at this time.
On Saturday, Niko was 4th in Specials, which is impressive at 7 years old (technically a veteran) and running with mostly a group of younger dogs. Aiden tied for 4th place in Open, but I forfeited him since there were no points available and I wanted to save him up for Monday. On Sunday, Fleura was second in Specials for three LCX points. Monday was the big day for me. Evie was second in Specials for three LCX points. The big winner was Aiden. He surprised us all and wound up first place in Open for a five point major! That gives him both his majors and leaves him needing only three singles. Due to Aiden's illness, he missed three years of coursing, and with so many young, green dogs, I thought that he would have to wait until he was in Veterans to try and finish his Field Champion, so it was a wonderful surprise for him to pull off a win like this. To say that I'm proud of him is an understatement. Fleura finished her Field Championship with a BOB for a 5 point major and a perfect score in the BOB run off. She also finished her Senior Courser this weekend and then went on to win Best in Field, running with a Greyhound, Ibizan, Basenji, Pharaoh Hound and Ridgeback. I'm super proud of this little girl!
Dean was also BOB on Saturday for 4 points toward his LCX, and Niko was third for a point. Evie was first in Specials for 5 points on Sunday, and Dean was second on for another 3 points for his LCX. Evie had her first foray into the show ring in over a year and did great! She was BOW two of the days for her second and third major, leaving her needing 5 points for her CH.
It was a super fun weekend overall, with many friends and a lovely entry. Fleura made a foray into the show ring this weekend at a UKC show. She behaved very well and even earned her first points and a placement with a Group 4. Evie also came for the weekend and earned her first points and placement with a Group 2.
