Yesterday, Fleura earned her SGRC, and today marked her 16th LGRA meet undefeated in all races (which I find impressive, considering she’s always run with fast Afghans!).
In Beezerland, we decided to show up with 11 Beezers for racing, which I think is the biggest or one of the biggest meets I’ve run Beezers in. We may have had few close ones in 2020 in FL, but I would have to check. The Fly kids dominated again, which isn’t a huge surprise. He got to hang out and see three of his sons and one of his daughter from three litters race, which is really neat. Dean has passed on the racing torch to his half brothers, Fable and Junior, now that he’s into his veteran years, but he still made a great showing both days. Yesterday, he tied with Zest & Sol to add more toward his SGRC too (he’s close!) and today he was fourth to his daughter! Today, Ms. Hela gets to be awarded “Most Improved”, as she won her last two races and placed third for her first point! Prior to the second race today, she was turning herself around in the box and getting a very late start (although she didn’t quit!), but I think she/we figured out the solve for that today. She is a big fan of this game and I’m looking forward to lure coursing with her. Meanwhile, over in Sweden, Ori made everyone super proud by going BOB and BOB Junior for his first CAC. He received a really nice critique from the judge. Huge congrats to Nellie & Felix!! Evie came in season right before the NLCC, and Sarah ended up taking her to the Perry shows for me, where she was awarded BOW two days for her last two points to finish her championship! She's a Dual Champion at long last!
Meanwhile, I took Beetlejuice, Sam and Dean to the NLCC, where we had a great time. The big winner was definitely Beetle, but Dean did get second place in veterans one of the days for another point. On his second weekend out, Shocker blasted through his last few points and finished his Canadian Championship, as well as winning two puppy groups! Shocker is the youngest Ibizan to finish his Canadian Championship. So proud of his family for getting him out there and having fun!
Junior has really taken to dock diving! He's one of a handful of Ibizans in the sport, and he really loves it. He took part in his first trial weekend and finished his Dock Senior title!
Junior had a great start in Barn Hunt, finishing both his Instinct and his Novice titles the same weekend. He finished with a first and third placement.
Junior finished his Rally Novice title, with a perfect 100 score in his last attempt. He's up for anything!
We had a fun weekend, camping out in Canon in the cool weather. Dean and Evie ran and had some fun, and we had a "borrowed" Beezer from Abbaio (Beetlejuice) who stayed with us as well and racked up some wins. He hit it off immediately with my dogs and had a great time playing with Fleura especially. Fleura had some great runs on two tight courses, and had an especially strong BIF run against the Whippet. She was BOB on Saturday to finish her LCX title, and 2nd place on Sunday.
The hilarious highlight of the weekend for me was Dean getting loose. I had handed him to a friend while I got Evie ready to go, since Beezers were up next. As I was leaning in the car and dressing her, I heard the cry of, "Loose dog!!" I decided to check, since Dean is strong, and I leaned back to look and saw him heading for the course at top speed. He had just gotten to the field, with three Whippets heading at him and the lure zipping his way, and I shouted his name. Amazingly, he screeched to a stop and spun around and headed straight back to me! This earned a round of applause from everyone in the holding area, which made it extra funny. Dean came right to me, to much praise, and then was handed back to his poor holder. |
