Junior (Evie x Fly) won both days for a nice start for his GRC. His sister Ponzi was third both days for her first points as well. Dean (Farrah x Fly) was second place yesterday for points toward his SGRC and today Zest (Sol x Ferdinand) was second place and seems to have found her calling. Fly proudly hung out and watched his kids, young and old, take after his speed. Evie hung out and was disappointed her kids aren’t as mischievous as she is when racing. Farrah hung out and showed everyone she can still speed off when she feels like it by galloping around like a wild heathen at 14.5 years old.
Sully (Evie x Fly) got a practice in and decided the lure is super great when it’s moving but when it stops he has more exciting things to discover.
Hela (Angel x Dean) had some awesome practices and even broke from the box. I am hopeful she will be a terror when she’s old enough to run for real next month.
Sam earned the title of worst dog I’ve started racing yesterday, not because he does anything wrong while running, but because he broke THREE muzzles. The bastard was managing to claw them off before he ever even left the box. I even taped his “thumbs” down to help keep him from grabbing them. Today, I modified a special muzzle just for him and I WON. He was a model racing dog today.
Fleura was her usual amazing self and won in Afghans both days. She needs a half point for her SGRC now.
Also, all of my dogs (and Scampi, who belongs to Sarah) proved themselves to have excellent recall when I stupidly left the gate to my pen not latched properly and they descended on the field one after the other. Six Beezers and an Afghan came carousing out for an adventure, but promptly returned to their house like polite citizens when called back. I can’t imagine what it looked like from the other end.
