Niko came into my life pretty unexpectedly. He was bred by my good friend, who invited me to help whelp his litter when I told her I had never been involved in a normal whelping before. It was an amazing experience, from start to finish - Niko was the first puppy born into my hands! I always felt I would have a special love for this litter, but did not anticipate one of them joining my family a year after he left.

Niko was raised by a great couple, who did a fantastic job socializing and training him, but unfortunately had to return him to his breeder at 15 months old due to a move out of the country. He ended up coming back to my house for a few days and it became apparent almost immediately that he was never meant to leave. I am very grateful for the opportunity to have him join my family. His personality is basically perfect, and he handled the transition into my house with such ease and good nature that he didn't even cause a ripple. Within 48 hours, he was sleeping under the blankets and lying on his back in my lap.

Niko has a phenomenal temperament - nothing phases him, and he is friends with every person and dog he meets; in fact, I call him my "flower child" because he is eternally cheerful. He is a very playful and willing dog who is a lot of fun to train and he learns very rapidly. His prey drive built quickly once he started lure coursing, and he's turned out to be a competitive lure coursing dog. His wild airborne leaps at the line at lure coursing make for some great photos and he's proven to be a very consistent and driven lure coursing dog with a Best In Field over a big entry and several wins and placements at specialty events and multiple stakes wins. He finished his AKC and ASFA Field Championships in the same weekend at a supported entry event.

Niko is also a fun, animated show dog. He finished his Championship with all majors, including two supported entry majors at his first show and a BOB over multiple Specials. He also made the cut at the 2016 and 2017 National Specialty, out of a very large, competitive entry, despite my poor handling skills! He's major pointed toward his Grand Championship as well.

Niko loves training and he finished his Rally Novice title with all qualifying scores and in the placements each time, and finished his CGC easily. He also finished his UKC Championship in one weekend with multiple group placements.

Crazy things happen sometimes, but that only reinforces that some things are meant to be. I am very excited for Niko's future and so thrilled to have him here.
